It's "restatement" season:
For all of our advisers providing their clients ERISA compliant ongoing 401k advice, I have an idea for you.
It will make you look like a hero to your clients, remind them of your value and help you compete for rollovers.
Many of your clients 401k plans will be emailing them (as required by law) a new Summary Plan Description (SPD) and/or Summary of Material Modifications.
CLICK HERE to read the 401k Specialist article if you want the “nitty gritty” of why they will be getting new SPDs
So, let me give you the “practical” side of what this means.
It means that you have a favorable reason to send a non-salesy email to all of your clients and prospects.
Here is the simple email that I am sending to all of my clients.
Dear Client,
Over the next few weeks you may receive an email from your 401k plan. There may be a link or an attachment to a document called a “Summary Plan Description” or SPD for short.
As a reminder, in my best effort to serve you, please forward that email to me.
I will review it and be in the greatest position to advise you on how to best use your employer’s retirement plan.
I will also add the main details of the SPD to your Plan Confidence Dashboard, so we both can view it at any time.
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about this email, your 401k, or any other financial concern/question that you may have.
Stay safe and healthy!

PS: Be sure to tell your friends, family and Co-Workers about our ongoing 401k advice service!
This simple, yet effective email, should lead to SPDs being emailed to you.
It should lead to a few clients having questions about their 401k.
It should build “good will” as you are not sending a boring newsletter or a marketing email asking them for more business.
And finally, it should lead to referrals as your clients talk to their friends and co-workers about the awesome advice you provide them for their 401k plan.
One simple email, already created for you, can lead to good things for you and your clients.
And finally, when your clients send you the SPDs, just forward them to support@planconfidence.com and we will hardcode them to your client’s dashboard.
We will tell you the exact date your clients become eligible for “In Service Distributions”. And we will even email you the day they are eligible, so you can discuss a potential rollover while your client is still working.
Life does not get much easier or better than that!
Stay confidence my friends!
